No Condom Can Stop Me

"If there's a cure for this, I don't want it." - Diana Ross

A few days back consternative radio loudmouth Michael Savage likened liberalism to HIV, stating that it (liberalism) "weakens the defense cells of a nation."

Savage, you forgot the obligatory Hitler reference in your metaphor. Dickhead.

Savage was commenting on the fact that liberals are often at odds with traditional institutions - the church, the government, law enforcement, the military - and suggesting that they are therefore infecting (weakening) America.

I'll humor Savage for a moment by saying this:

I hope to help infect as many Americans with this "disease" as possible - men, women and children - through my daily interactions with them. I want to infect so many people that those who know me begin referring to me as "Patient Zero" before long. There is no vaccine or cure for this disease in sight, and I'll resist or thwart all attempts to find one.

As for Savage, I'm sure his resistance to the disease is quite strong, so he doesn't have to worry much about contracting it. But I'm not so sure his head is on securely.

Nice to see you actually listening to America's radio personality....His analogy of liberals is spot on..this accounts for his 8 best selling books and his #1 ranked talk radio show....Liberalism is everthing wrong w/America.look at the UK see how Liberalism has decimated that country, for it is a telling of what America can expect in a future w/liberalism.

I bet he would be surprised to learn how many liberals are in the military.

Liberals in the military? A good soldier doesn't get political but lets face it the military vote always goes Republican by a huge margin. I remember in 2000 Florida election officials tried to have the military absentee vote thrown out. Bush sued to get the votes counted and gained a significant margin.
Back to the point at hand, I don't listen to Savage but I can see where he was going. Liberalism is a ideology of dependance. Liberals want to people to live under a system of entitlement so they can spread the same kind of dependance that ruined the inter-cities in every blue state. Why do you think liberals oppose every measure that calls for personal responsibility and self reliance.

hell & rusty - you guys can bite me (then it will be in your bloodstream, too, you see...)

hell - "popular" doesn't mean shit... Christina Aguilera is popular, too, and she's worthless... and don't get me started on reality TV...

rusty - your choice to focus on a perception of a small aspect of liberalism is truly self-serving... we actually want everyone to be able to live as they want as long as 1) they don't hurt anyone, and 2) they don't force their views on anyone else... and our desire to see the underprivileged helped is not about entitlement, it's about compassion and humanity, something that has been replaced on the right by blind greed for money and power...

jack - amen, brother!

off with their heads!
off with their heads!

what's poisoning and infecting this country are those irrational folk who cannot think beyond the narrow confines of their limited experience and are incapable of serious discussion and debate.

and yes rusty, there are liberals in the military- perhaps they too are on a "don't ask, don't tell" standing.

Hellpig said...

No Bird it's the Libs as I have proven time and time again..life expiriences? how many countries have you been too? me 12 and plan on 2 more after I get back from Alaska sometime next spring...Try leaving your liberal bubble once in a while and see the world, you might actually learn something

Hey, we're in the process of deporting those asylum seekers.

As for Liberalism, I don't care. On some issues (such as healt care)I'm decididly liberal. On others (national defence) I'mstrictly conservative. I just go along with what makes sense to me.

he didn't play the "hitler" card cause that's a classic lib diversionary tactic. you won't have to work hard bogs the media will be your willing shotgun man. anybody see any "im sorrys" over the valerie plame game?

hell makes a good point re: radio. why did air america fail? even with money thrown at it? because the message is gloom doom failure and misery. never the beauties always the sorrows. and in the end they were busted backwards and forwards for corruption. and the people on air america were "popular" like al franken a best selling author. so...

why do libs want felons to vote? illegal immigrants?
fight the photo id requirement? they are the nanny state. as rusty said dependence is their stock and trade. this is the very point i entered this world on.

I find it iteresting that one of your tenents of liberalism is "don't force their views on anyone else..." this to defend the ones who coined the term politcal correctness (a term that describes how one should think).
They fight for the right to burn the American flag yet want to convict you for hate crimes if you burn the gay rights flag. Re-interpret the contatution to deny local govenments from even mentioning God in the classroom. I still remember when the ACLU put cameras in a local high school to make sure students where not holding prayer in the hallway. I guess you are right, they don't force belifes on you they just repress ones that lead to strong self-willed people.
Hey don't talk to conservatives about popular. Its the libs who rally hollywood celebraties to gain votes, celebraties mind you in most cases are not as educated as me or you(maybe you).

k9 - liberal doesn't sell... that's why Air America hasn't done better... back in the hippie days you probably couldn't get a Rush Limbaugh on the radio... it's the dialectic of history, but I don't want to be accused of being a commie for using words like that... Air America's negativity as you speak of was about wrongs that need to be righted... you can't just pretend things are ok... you can't point out what needs fixing without talking about what needs fixing... the consternative "positive" message is "the economy is great, the war is going great, etc." syntax-wise, those are positive statements, but they are LIES... I'll negative truth (in the hopes of changing it) over cotton candy, jingoist propaganda anyday...

flab - that must be because of your new PM... man, not even Canada and Oz are immune from it...

rusty ford - the PC crowd can bite me, too... I have no use for them...

all - the great disease will one day infect the sons and the daughters of the infidel consternatives... it is simply a matter of time... there will be no permanent majority for the cons because, a) things really suck right now under their watch, and b) history is indeed cyclical, in this and just about every other country... a few of us just caught the wrong wave... you can argue about it, but don't shoot the messenger... all things change... all things must pass... it will happen...

rusty shakelford said...

On what bases do you say this war is going badly. What are you comparing the Iraq war to? Same note, what bases do you say the economy is bad, what economy are you comparing ours to?

Surely you of all people are not just echoing some crap you heard on the Daily Show? Qualify your argument.

i disagree. the conservative point of view is lets look at what needs fixing but with an attitude of we CAN fix it.

an example might be this: i do believe we contribute to global warming and i do think we have an obligation to safeguard our enviromental assets.

i think we should use cloth again and not so many paper towels and diapers. i think you should turn lights off in rooms and keep the heat low and the ac high. i think there are many ways to conserve energy that are common sense and very doable. its not just cars.

and we should really lean on manufacturing to go ethanol or switch grass or whatever you got. gates could do a prize money thing and get the inventors cracking. just being innovative and as creative as possible.....with how its funded, how its applied.

pointing out whatever's wrong is not difficult. and thats what the most vocal on the left do, constantly and bitterly. youre right it doesnt sell.

/grrrrrrr

Pete Bogs said...

rusty - you're living in a fog... we weren't ready for this war, and we continue to lose people with no end in sight... for the economy, just look around... GM's going to lay off a quarter of their force... Disney is planning big layoffs... and these are SUCCESSFUL companies! unemployment numbers are also up, according to today's news...

I am not comparing these to anything... they are bad on their own merits...

by the way, in reference to a previous conversation we had, I could make about as much money on unemployment as I am working in this temp job... I preferred to work instead of collecting money from the gov't... I also drive 90 minutes each direction to my job to work less than 20 hours a week... that on $3.00/gal. gas... entitlements? nanny society? I work hard for the money...

k9 - you're taking a very narrow view of things... I can cite as many liberal positive solutions to things, where there are just as many negatives coming from cons...

example issue:

dependence on unclean, non-renewable sources of energy that make us rely on Mideast countries who despise us...

con solution: let's turn the white snows of Alaska black (enjoy that, hell) by drilling for oil there... Exxon Valdez Schmaldez! oh, and let's drill off of Florida, too!

lib solution - for one, let's increase fuel efficiency in our cars so we don't need so much of it in the first place...

con response: nah, our friends in the auto industry won't like it... hurts their profits... petrochemicals don't like it for the same reason... nope, drill in Alaska and the Gulf, that's the solution...

again, you've got to point out what's wrong before you can fix it... just common sense...

First Thanks for the link Bogs................

Ahem,,the libs are the ones stopping ethanol development, libs are stopping new refineries from being built,Kennedy is stopping wind harnessed energy...Bogs the North Slope is a wasteland, and the myth about caribo population dwindling is a lie they flourish all along the pipeline using it as a heat source, why shouldnt we drill thats what it's there for they are called resources for a reason.

Bogs you are way to smart to be Liberal c'mon just cross over see the light..follow the light Bogs

hell, you have not proven time after time that the libs are poisoning and infecting the country. just saying it over and over again doesn't make it so.

i am not as well-traveled as you pig, but travel i do. however, i know plenty of people who have traveled all over europe,,for example, and have not used the experience to grow and develop. they don't take public transportation, they don't mingle with the regular people, they don't eat the local food or talk with the locals about community, national or international affairs. i assume that YOU don't travel that way - that you explore and engage with the local population on your travels. that you seek out alternative opinions and listen. i try to do so when i travel. when i can't travel, i read a vareity of news sources - from different parts of the world, trying to figure out what goes on outside the american bubble -which is a pretty big bubble.

k9 - i was watching some news show today - some scientists discussing global warming. they noted that in the past, research institutions have found solutions to problems - they do so by applying for government funding to research the problem and attack it with what used to be good ol' american know-how and that good ol' american can-do attitude. but the current conservative administration has cut the research budget for such things as global warming, while padding its energy bill with subsidies for the oil companies that are currently making record profits. now what the heck kind of solution is that?

and curiously,as i read your comment - you sounded like a lot of liberals i know.

i know precious few conservatives that actually want to examine the problems, admit they exist, and then find solutions. most i know want to beat their chests and claim that because someone is critical of the country, they are traitors or nay-sayers, etc.

but far too much time is spent by conservatives and libs alike feuding and playing games. our political system has run amok. no one really cares about solving problems, just about spinning the problem to make it look like it's the other guy's fault.

enough!!!

why can't we just quit the bickering and take care of the probs? is it really that hard to develop a national, unified will?

we'd have to give up our generalizations and stereotypes about each other.

so rusty - what the heck are you talking about? libs want to convict folks for burning the gay flag? not this lib. and hollywood folk are less educated than the rest of us? huh? many of them are highly educated - either formly - or informally. and k9, was that you who said libs want to allow illegals to vote - i'm liberal and i don't agree to that.

but why shouldn't felons vote? did they not serve their time? why are they stripped forever of their voting rights? i don't get that one at all. shouldn't it depend on the kind of felony?

and rusty - do i want to be forced to pray publicly? hell no! why should i? you want to pray publicly - go ahead, but don't set it up so everyone else has to, or has to stand silently while you do.

oh.... i've taken up too much space here - should have posted on my own blog.

flap/flap/ and outta of here!

GM's problem is labor unions demanding big pensions. thats why toyo beats us ...they pay a good wage and leave the rest to the individual, and can manufacture at a profit. plus GM's cars are butt ugly. thats not the fault of conservatives though.
