Coalition Of The Dwindling

Japan may not be leaving the IWC anytime soon, but their 600 troops are leaving Iraq within weeks.

The announcement means Japan will be joining other members of the "coalition of the won'ting" such as Italy in cutting and running from the terrorists. At least, by contemporary US political standards, that's what they're doing.

The US-led coalition forces have said that as Iraqi forces stand up, they'd stand down. Iraqis are now taking over from the Japanese. One wonders what the contingency plans are for when coalition members step out.

The ever-tenuous situation in Iraq is not going to get any easier with fewer personnel on hand to deal with it. So tell me, Dear Leader, what's the plan for filling the gap? Or would admitting we don't have one be giving too much away to the enemy?

is it possible that the japanese and the italians had some sort of, ah, er, ahem ...TIME TABLE?

an exit strategy perchance?

it seems fitting to me though, that as the iraqis stand up OTHER members of the coalition stand down - leaving the US holding the bag (which, after all, we not only opened, but made).

on a related note ...

I just heard on the radio something about a letter from our ambassador in iraq which summarizes the situation "on the ground" as worsening and essentialy being pretty deplorable (god, i am aghast at my poor writing here)...the letter is in distinct contradition to the Bushites and constervatives "good news" doctrine. but then again, it was a LEAKED letter - so even if it's offering valid info, we'd best ignore it least we be labeled as treasonous as the fellow who leaked it to begin with.

heavens forbid that we know what's really going on.

that ambassador has a date with a treason court in his future... no truth is tolerated...

the japanese had to leave so they could go kill whales instead.

yup, when they're not snagging dolphins in tuna nets, they're killing our cetacean cousins...

Now the Japanese are leaving the reason the Australians are there ( to protect the southern areas being manned by the Japanese) is questionable. The 'enemy' was made. So I would like Australia to 'cut and run' too before any more young lives are lost.

croak - I want that, too... we all need to get the hell out of there... "cut and run" is the terminology of the warmongers and profiteers...

To use such terms is to de-demonise it. Power of words.
Cheers

I doubt you will call it even. Democrats want Bush to retreat so they can blame him for a lost war. Then they will funnel images of a bloddy civil war in Iraq into our living rooms. Last they will blame Bush for not sticking with the new Iraq government.
Of course all the liberals will forget how they called for the retreat in the fist place.

Iraq has become the war of diminishing returns... if we have a victory strategy, we sure are hiding it well... they will continue to bleed us of military resources and then who will we have to blame but ourselves? oh wait, we can blame Bush!
