Snow Job: Fox News Now Unequivocally Bush Mouthpiece

Fox News has long been accused of shilling for Republicants and acting as a mouthpiece for the White House – claims they’ve always denied.

Their motto is “fair and balanced,” but that hasn’t fooled anyone.

How can we explain Fox News’ Tony Snow replacing Scott McClellan as the president’s spokesman? Fox can no longer deny at least one member of their team has close enough ties to the Bush administration to land a cushy job within it.

I’ll restate it succinctly – a guy from Fox News is now the mouthpiece for the president. Point made.

Snow has already out-Boltoned John Bolton by insulting his future colleagues, calling Bush “impotent,” “an embarrassment” and a “dime-store Democrat.” That last one especially… ouch!

But now Bush won’t have to worry about suffering any further such jibes from Snow. As the president’s spokesman Snow will continue Scotty’s work of speaking while saying nothing.

Weather report: snow on the way. When reality is explained the only thing left for the philosophers to decide is the most compelling question of all: "What's a mother to do?" So here is the answer.

They only have 9 commandments. That's what happens when one fails to observe the 11th, "Thou shalt not believe thy own lies." The old reliable, "come in out of the rain" does not apply to snow. However it is necessary to get under cover else one will end up covered in snow. The snow is already over Bush's head, reality explained and the mother will rely on even more snow. When will they ever learn? Never or when the polls close, whichever comes first.

Conservatives are not bound by, "Thou shalt not bear false witness" only liberals. That explains why liberals are opposed to having the 10 commandments in the court room while conservatives insist on it. Those not bound by the rules are forever shovelling snow.

bill - they're shoveling something for sure, but I think it's a bit DARKER than snow...

our main newspaper in sydney is extremely bias - anti-christian too.

its amazing how important the media is

fatty - true, but since this "spokesman" is as likely to actually say anything as the last guy was, what was the point of the switch? actually I addressed a few days back - to give them impression of change, which Bush needs to get his poll numbers back about 32%!

good post here bogs.

i caught bush's little announcment on the news today - his little joke - someting about snow knows the whole press corp and still agreed to take the job. bush delivered his line and then did his little smirk and shoulder movement that he does when he thinks he's funny. oh yeah, snort, snort. funny funny.

but watching the newsclip - noting the way bush's shoulders move and his facial expression when he cracks a joke - i suddenly realized he reminds me of either beavis or butthead(i confuse the two - but hey, they are interchangeable).

how depressing - we have beavis/butthead for president.

hey - what about that job?

Anyone with a slightly analytical mind who follows the link to those *quotes* will see it's just more spin :)
I'm also curious as to how the first date went!

Pete Bogs said...

bird - nothing new to report on that front, unfortunately... thanks for asking...

day - I assume you mean the metaphorical "date" of the job interview? see above...

thanks, folks...

the spoils of victory.

why shoudn't the press secretary be pro administration? what do you think that job is?

after all, you have the NYT, the guardian, all of hollywood, basically every paper and every news org. other than fox.

i thought i would be the best press secretary replacement until i read this from "uncle jimbo":

Good Morning I'm Uncle Jimbo, subbing for Scott McClellan who really just wasn't cut out for lying to you piranhas. The rules for this daily farce have been changed to reflect the fact that your organizations are basically adversaries and active opponents of the elected US Government. Consequently you will now be treated as representatives of the side you have chosen, the bad guys. I will tell you the unvarnished truth when it suits the purposes of our country, and I will bold-faced lie to you when that furthers our cause. That cause is freedom and the consensus 'round here is that you either don't share those goals or are too idealistically ignorant to understand how to create it. So, let the games begin.

if only!

the press secretary is dismissive of the press at the peril of the people... they (Bush and team) see the press as combatants, but when they do their job correctly they serve an important function... he is a presidential advocate by nature, and that's not in question... the questions are, 1) will he actually answer any questions - because if not, why replace him? and 2) how can anyone still deny Fox is Bush's mouthpiece when it's taken on a literal dimension?

what if fox is bushes mouthpiece? theres plenty of alternatives! there is an abundance of Bush admin sins to read about, watch, listen to....my aggrevation with the WHPC is primarily with the framing of questions as accusing statements. they waste too much time on petty digs and not enough inquiry on big picture long term goals.

the press must be combatants - of sorts - they should be advocates - they are, in some ways, part of the checks and balances and a pivotal part of what makes a thriving democracy, well, thriving.

a myriad of things get in the way of the press doing their jobs - censorhsip is one, structural bias inherent in media and growing weirder and weirder every day is another, politicans that want to hide and cloak information is another obstacle.

the press is SUPPOSE to ask questions, query, pester, not let go of the bone, not let the prez, his administration, etc. off the hook.

damn straight, boyed!

k9 - we already KNOW Fox is the mouthpiece for Bush, and that won't change... they can be that, but they should fucking admit it! it's like the Simpsons episode from '04 where the Fox News trucks roll in to cover a story in Springfield and they say "Bush-Cheney '04" on the side! that's honesty, at least... they deny it, and Snowy will continue to speak yet say nothing... there's no honesty in any of that...

couldn't resist posting this AP headline:
